Sprinklers bring e-bike battery fire under control

A fire believed to have been caused by the failure of an e-bike lithium battery on charge inside a ground floor flat in December, was successfully extinguished by the activation of a residential sprinkler system, according to a sprinkler save report from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).
The fire which broke out at a multi-occupancy premies was brought under control and no injuries were reported.
Obi Selassie, GFRS station manager said. “If it was not for the activation of the sprinkler system extinguishing the fire before the arrival of the fire service, we could be discussing a different outcome for this incident, The benefits of sprinklers should not be underestimated they save lives and reduce injuries, protect firefighters.”
