About BAFSA

BAFSA HAS BEEN REPRESENTING THE BRITISH SPRINKLER INDUSTRY SINCE 1974

We advocate for the increased use of automatic fire sprinkler and water based fire suppression systems and work to raise awareness of their role in saving lives and protecting firefighters, property and the environment from fire.

We are dedicated to ensuring that sprinkler systems are installed to the highest professional standards. Our members install more than 85% of the sprinkler and water mist installations in the UK and include a significant majority of third-party certified sprinkler installers as well as manufacturers; suppliers; contractors; insurers; the fire and rescue services and others with an interest in the field.

Increasingly the association has offered a home to smaller companies just entering the market and now represents a large number of companies offering the installation of domestic and residential fire sprinkler systems. Many of the association’s members also design and install water mist systems.

BAFSA MEMBERS

BAFSA members are made up of sprinkler manufacturers, suppliers, installers and associates.

For installer companies there are four grades of membership. These are based largely on the LPS 1048 scheme. Companies which are listed under the FIRAS or IFCC Domestic and Residential installer scheme are classified together with LPCB Level 1 installers. Unlisted companies installing such systems are classified as Associate Members.

If you want to ensure your sprinkler system is fitted to the highest professional standards – then look for a BAFSA member.

BAFSA Council

BAFSA elects a council each year. There are up to nine installer members, five manufacturer and supplier members and three associate members. A new council is elected at each annual general meeting in November along with the chairman, vice chairman and treasurer.

Where there are two or more members employed by the same company or group, a resolution is required to confirm the right of the member to sit on council. This requires a majority of 75%.

BAFSA Committees

All members can automatically join any of BAFSA's working committees.
