Seminar on BS 9991

BAFSA will co-host a seminar on 17th January 2025 providing an overview of BS 9991.
Many residential buildings are designed using BS 9991 because it offers fire safety design solutions that are attractive to developers and flat owners alike. This seminar will introduce BS 9991, its place in the regulatory landscape and why it is used by fire safety designers of residential buildings.
We will then set out the significant changes for the 2024 edition before focussing on incentives to fit sprinklers in BS 9991, identifying those that are new and where BS 9991 could lead to sprinklers being fitted in buildings not as high as the 11 m floor threshold in Approved Document B.
The seminar will also highlight design guidance references in BS 9991 to BS 9251 and EN 12845 and discuss the removal of water mist as an option in BS 9991.
Hosts: Alasdair (Ali) Perry , chief executive officer BAFSA, speakers: Alan Brinson executive director of the European Fire Sprinkler Network and James Lane director of Fire Engineering Wintech Group
